Events for Wednesday March 20th:
7:45 a.m.-end of day Picket Groups Go to the SSMU lobby to join a picket group.
8:00 a.m.- 9:00p.m. Marathon 1625 Sign up to run, bike, roller skate, skip or hop in the marathon here, and join the FB event. Visit Concordia and UQAM, check out their strike activities, carry a flag through Montreal to show we oppose tuition hikes, and have an awesome time. Go to the table set up outside Thomson House to check in.
9:00 a.m. Breakfast (location TBA). Come get some coffee and breakfast.
11:00 a.m. Teach-in: Graduate Student Funding. In the Thomson House Basement.
11:30 a.m.- 10:00 p.m. Strike Room is open. Make signs, banners, other creative strike materials and watch documentaries on the student movement in Quebec and all over the world. Corner Lounge of Thomson House.
1:00 p.m. Lunch and Speakout. BBQ Lunch in Community Square. Come talk about how the tuition hikes will affect you, or anything you have to say about the strike, education etc. Also get yummy food.
2:30 p.m. Teach-in: Staying Safe in Demonstrations/ Know Your Rights. Thomson House Basement.
5:00 Teach-in: Why not non-violence. SSMU (Location TBA)
6:30 p.m. Dinner by MK in SSMU
7:30 p.m. Open mic (Location TBA)
9:00 p.m. Creation Night Basically a sleepover at SSMU! Let’s make sure that we’re ready for that demo, no chance that you’ll sleep in and miss it, besides, sleepovers are fun. “…we’re going to have an creation night, to have discussions and prepare placards, banners, flags, and more for the next day. We are then sleeping over in the Shatner building, to be ready for picket lines in the morning, and the demonstration in the afternoon. We recommend bringing: fabric, paint brushes, paint, sleeping bags.”
